Hi! My name is Aubrey Yandow and I’m the creator of The Coastal Confidence. The Coastal Confidence Crew & I aim to capture all the traditions of a New England lifestyle from our warehouse in Connecticut, although you can often find me in Dallas with my boyfriend Matt.
What inspired you to start your blog?
I was actually inspired to start The Coastal Confidence when I dropped everything and moved to San Diego for college. After living in San Diego for a year, I began to miss New England’s lifestyle, soooo I created The Coastal Confidence in order to capture and share the essence of New England lifestyle with my California friends.
What does a typical day in your life look like?
Oh boy, there really is no ‘typical day’ in terms of blogging, but here is what a typical week looks like. One day is a dedicated office day, usually Monday, so that means responding to emails, editing photos, scheduling social media posts and filling orders from our TCC at Home Store. I spend the next three days out of the week shooting content, one day is aimed at shooting lifestyle content (recipes, gift guides, advice pieces), another day is aimed at shooting scenic content (images of New England homes, charming towns, and the current season) and the next day is aimed at shooting style content. Finally on Friday I’m usually back in the office editing all images and planning the following weeks’ goals with The TCC Crew. Oh & Sunday mornings are always dedicated to pinteresting, can you blame me, follow our crew on Pinterest here!
Do you have any advice for others looking to start a blog?
Okay, my best advice it to start NOW! Blogging takes a lot of practice. From learning how to shoot photos, editing photos and finding your ‘online’ voice, it all just takes time and practice. So the sooner you get the ball rolling, the better. My second best advice is investing in a good camera, trust me it’s soooooooo worth it.
3 things you can’t leave your home without?
My camera (you never know when you’ll stumble upon a charming New England home), my agenda (emails are 24/7 so knowing my schedule at all times helps me respond to urgent emails efficiently) and lip balm (New England winters are the worst on your lips)!
What do you think separates Graphique from other stationery and gift lines?
100% the unique designs! As a blogger, it’s my job to showcase products and brands that I believe my New England readers would relate to and might not know about, because let’s face it mainstream is boring. So whenever I’m styling a room or office I aim to find unique pieces of stationery that start up a conversation while still showcasing my personality. That’s where Graphique comes in, everything they create showcases personality and that’s essential when it comes to styling a room..
What is your best organizational tip?
Oh this question is easy, make a list! I always feel better prepared and organized, once I have a handwritten list of what needs to be completed. I usually keep this notepad, right next to my desktop so I can jot down anything that pops into my mind. Once you know what needs to get done it’s easier to move forward in a more organized manner
Words to live by?
Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle. – Abraham Lincoln. Basically, don’t be afraid to get out there and go after what you want, showing up is the first step towards accomplishing your goals.
