♥ Hi Planning Fancy! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi! My name is Patty and my Instagram account is PlanningFancy. I am originally from Italy and I live in Virginia with my husband and kids. My Instagram account is dedicated to my obsession for planning, stationery and crafting.
♥ What inspired your interest in stationery and planning?
I have been in love with stationery and planning ever since I can remember! I started collecting cute pens and notepads in my early school years, and when I received my first Filofax as a birthday gift in High School, I was totally hooked! My planner became my constant companion, and served not only the purpose of marking important dates and appointments, but as a sort of scrapbook of my daily life and special trips, filled as it was with small mementos and pictures. I still have that very same planner, and looking through it takes me back to those early days!
The Stationery Revolution!
Stationery definitely plays a huge role in my daily life! If you walked around my house you would not find a single room that does not have a cute notepad or notebook and matching pen ready to be used! I love making lists, and writing quick reminders to myself and my family, and then taking these notes with me on shopping trips. I also love to write thank you notes, and send cards to friends for all occasions, so I always try to keep a good assortment of those at home ready to be used!
I think that in the age of emails and texting, where the ability to communicate with others has become instantaneous but also impersonal, young people are rediscovering the pleasure of a slower paced but more thoughtful way to reach out to one another. Snail mail, and the rediscovery of calligraphy and seal wax, has allowed the younger generation to find a way to express their creativity and personality while connecting to others. Being able to quietly sit down and carefully and artfully craft a beautifully handwritten note to a pen pal, or close friend, brings us back to center, and in touch to who we really are, and that feeling is priceless.
I have to admit that before discovering the planner community on Instagram, it had never occurred to me to share my love for stationery and planning with the world. I had no idea that such a community even existed, and when I stumbled upon it I was immediately drawn to it, not only because of the amazing creativity of my fellow planner girls, but also for the encouragement and friendship that I was met with. It took me a little over two months before I conjured up enough courage to post my first picture, but I have been posting daily ever since that day!
♥ We know you love our pens! Have any other favorites from the Graphique collection and what do you think sets Graphique apart from other stationery brands?
Yes! Those who are already familiar with my page, know that I absolutely adore your pens, and I use them all the time in my posts. But I am also a big fan of your whole stationery line. What I love most about Graphique, and what I think sets it apart from other stationery brands, is the combination of trend setting and fashion forward designs with bright and vibrant colors. When your stationery is as beautiful as Graphique is, you do not want to hide it in a drawer, but you want to proudly display it on your desk, as it adds a touch of style and personality to any room!
♥ Any advice for all the #girlboss and #plannergirls out there?
The best advice that I could give to any fellow planner girl who is just starting out, is to take the time to find out what planning style works best for you, and to not be afraid to change things up and try something different! There are so many options and styles of planners out there – ring bound, coiled, travelers’ notebooks – that it’s easy to get overwhelmed! I have personally changed my planning style several times, and it took a process of trial and error to find the best fit for me. Also remember that what works for others may not work for you, and that’s the beauty of planning, there is truly something for everyone!
What drives her success and creativity!
I believe that consistency of content and posting has been one of the most important factors in the growth of my account. Posting quality images on a regular schedule has helped me keep my followers engaged, as well as attract new ones. Equally if not more important has been the relationship that I have developed with my followers, who I consider friends, and with whom I constantly interact. They are the true reason of the growth of my account and for that I am extremely grateful to each and every one of them.
I believe that creativity is something that you cannot take for granted and that you constantly have to work at. I wish I could say that I am always inspired, but as everyone else, I have moments in which I feel like I am stuck in a creative rut with no end in sight! What has helped in those times has been to try new creative outlets to rekindle that spark. Water coloring, card making, stamping… the options are endless! Trying something new has helped me to see things from a different perspective, and I have found it to be tremendously beneficial in giving me a creative boost!
♥ Any thing else you’d like to share?
I would love to encourage anyone who has a love for planning, stationery and snail mail, to join our huge community on Instagram! You will find tons of inspiration and you will make new friends, who share your same passion, in no time at all! Hope to see you there!
